Making Open Government: Inspiring positive change with stories and design
An interactive peer learning workshop about the role of storytelling, visual and narrative design in open government and engaging diverse audiences.
Can we design a better future with creative interventions?
Come along and hear tales of success and lessons learnt from open government advocates and designers, and share your work and stories.
What’s the workshop about?
How organisations from around the world have engaged audiences to understand their rights, better understand open government, transparency and corruption issues, and brought people together to transform government culture, data, and systems.
Speakers will highlight the value of creativity, power of positivity, and discuss the important roles design and public participation play in supporting the creation of inclusive, ethical, and humane political, technology, and information systems.
This is an opportunity for participants to make connections and through an open conversation - share what works to progress positive change in different places and contexts.
This is an in person side event - with online elements. Co hosted with Juan Pablo Marin Diaz from Datasketch, Colombia, South America.
If you can’t make it you can still participate!
In the spirit of collaboration, the workshop space will also be home to a pop-up gallery, featuring work from our presenters, audience participants, and people not able to make it to Tallinn.
Before and during the workshop, the gallery walls will feature visual content (infographics, images, photos, artworks) and posters with links to multimedia projects (video, audio, interactive, online performances, data visualisations).
We will feature projects after the event on the upcoming Making Open online gallery - so sign up for our newsletter for updates.
This is an official Open Government Partnership 2023 Summit side event.
